Religious Activism

Two items of note:

First Item -
The author of The Exorcist, William P. Blatty is preparing to help students (and possibly others) of Georgetown University prepare a canon lawsuit to be filed with the Archdiocese of Washington and the Vatican.  Mr. Blatty is a Georgetown alumnus and expresses his immense displeasure that Georgetown is no longer true to the Catholic identity he was familiar with as a member of the class of 1950.  The purpose of the canon lawsuit seeks remedies "up to and including possible removal or suspension of top-ranked Georgetown's right to call itself Catholic or Jesuit in its fundraising and representations to applicants."

What brought this on, you may ask?  HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius! Ms. Sebelius, well known for her late term abortion stance and the January HHS mandate (which is part of ObamaCare) was an invited speaker at a recent diploma ceremony.   You may recall said mandate essentially forces religious institutions and their affiliates to provide free contraceptives and abortion inducing drugs to their employees thereby violating their religious beliefs and  causing  a firestorm thoughout the religious community.  Suffice it to say, one cannot understand why a Catholic university would invite someone with such callous indifference to aborting of the unborn AND in complete violation of the Constitution's First Amendment to be a speaker.   You may also recall, that as a result of the church's refusal to violate their religious beliefs, one Sandra Fluke came upon the scene, testified before a Democratic 'committee' and shortly thereafter cries of a 'war on women' arose (but that's another story!).  Ms. Fluke, by the way, was a student at Georgetown at the time.

Mr. Blatty is urging Georgetown alumni, students, parents, faculty and any other interested party to join in the lawsuit.

For more on this story and interview of Mr. Blatty by Dr. Susan Berry you can go to:  www.breitbart.com

Second Item -
43 Catholic institutions, including Notre Dame, have instituted lawsuits over the HHS mandate.  Among the institutions are: the Archdiocese of New York, Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., Archdiocese of St. Louis, Diocese of Rockville Centre, Diocese of Dallas, Diocese of Fort Worth, Diocese of Pittsburgh, Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, Michigan Catholic Conference representing all seven dioceses in the state, Catholic University of America, and Franciscan University of Steubenville.  There may be more plaintiffs to come.

Do you think the President and Ms. Sebelius have opened up a pandora's box?   BUT DON'T TAKE YOUR EYE OFF THE 'PRIZE' - NOVEMBER 6, 2012 - their day of reckoning!!!

"Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end,
But establish the just; For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds."  Psalm 7:9
