A
painting that depicts President Barack Obama as a crucified Jesus Christ is
prominently on display at a Boston
community college art gallery according to an article written by Tony Lee and published on Nov. 27th. See http://breitbart.com
The picture of the painting (which I have been unable to import to this site) shows Obama with his arms outstretched on a cross
with a crown of thorns on his head. Apparently the 'artist' painted the picture four
years ago at which time it was supposed to debut in New York but the event was cancelled due to public outrage - there has been no such outrage in Boston.
I hold the Constitution in high esteem; however, there are those who take the words of that document and deliberately, willfully and with malice aforethought, violate the true meaning intended by our founding fathers.
The 'artist' claims he didn't intend to compare Obama to Jesus, he only meant it to be 'metaphorical'. Well, here is the meaning of metaphoric (metaphorical): "a figure of speech in which a word for one idea or thing is used in place of another to suggest a likeness between them". There is only ONE way for any rational, thinking individual to interpret it.
Maybe this will help clarify the intent for you - the title of the painting is called "Truth" and, according to the article is part of the "Artists on the Stump - the Road to the White House 2012" exhibit. (emphasis mine)
I'm sure there are other passages in the Bible that are appropriate for this of but I'm going to use the following from the Bible because it is painfully obvious to me (and possibly to the reader) that based on the meaning of 'metaphorical', the painter did mean to make a comparison:
"You shall have no other gods before Me."
Exodus 20:3
What do you think?
